Founded in Summer 2006 by Amy Beveridge and Exlis Staddon, the Pure Funk DANCE CREW has become something of a breeding ground for local commercial dance talent in the areas of Bournemouth and Poole.
‘Dance Crew’ members are successful through annual audition and this form of training is aimed at those who display particular talent and passion for this genre of dance. Our Dance Crew training is a UNIQUE dance package to this area, specifically aimed at gifted and talented young dancers. For more details see our AUDITIONS page.
This high quality experience and tailored training aims to provide the link for those hoping to become a more ‘all rounded’ dancer and, for many, aiding their preparation to pursue a career in the commercial dance world. Complimentary to any other weekly dance technique training they have elsewhere, Pure Funk provides its Dance crew members with a one day timetable of weekend classes in gymnastic skills, modern and contemporary dance technique, street dance skills, and commercial dance for performance.
Auditions are held every August in the Bournemouth area. There are two Dance Crew age splits of 10-15rs and 16-30yrs (paid work opportunities often offered for Crew over age 18yrs). CLICK HERE for an application form for this year’s crew auditions!

As an overview, performances include the following: national competitions, outdoor festivals, corporate events, stage work, and Pure Funk’s own annual Choreography Festival and end of year showcase @ Lighthouse, Poole Centre for the Arts.
