Sammy Reeves
Sammy has always loved dancing from a young age and joined a local dance school at 12 years of age to study ISTD ballet, modern, and tap. This was where she was first introduced to the world of street/commercial dance, at a high quality level. Both Pure Funk and Tim Noble (Kylie Minogue’s choreographer) run regular workshops and classes for this dance school, as outside guest companies, and Sammy immediately saw herself developing within this genre of dance.
Sammy auditioned and joined the Pure Funk Dance Crew as a performer when it began in 2006, where her love and dedication for commercial dance grew. She studied at Jellicoe College and earned herself a BTEC National Diploma in Dance, and because of her dedication and swift development began teaching with Pure Funk in 2008.
"I really enjoy being part of the PF teaching team, the best part is seeing the children's enthusiasm and excitement when we go into schools - it reminds me of the same enthusiasm and excitement I had for street dance when I was their age, and I'm glad I am now in a position to encourage and help pass that passion on."
Sammy Reeves, May 2009.
