Richard Smith
Richard studied at Lychett Minster Performing Arts School, gaining a double distinction grade in BTEC Performing Arts. He discovered Pure Funk (and we discovered him!) whilst we were delivering a workshop and fortnightly sessions for the dance students at the school. He knew instinctively that he wanted to join the Dance Crew and he very quickly went on to begin developing his teaching skills through Pure Funk also.
Richard has studied and trained in break and street dancing since the age of 17 and always thrives on going bigger and crazier with his dancing! His main focus is break dance which reflects in his teaching, and he also covers many aspects of street technique.
“I enjoy performing because it gives me a chance to express myself in ways that can’t be done by any other means! And I love teaching because I am passing on knowledge of specific dance skills which I find fascinating, and helping people build on something they enjoy doing.”
