Exlis Staddon
Born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Exlis has a strong love of the true techniques of street and break dance. He is also an amazing self-taught acrobat, and has professionally danced in various dance groups and venues locally and in London before joining the Pure Funk teaching team in 2005. He was also a former member of ‘Darkside’ - who came second in the UK GWI Street Dance Championships in 2003.
Exlis has the experience and natural ability to work with all manner of young people and adults and he regularly undertakes project work for various disability groups in the local area and beyond, such as Spirit in Motion, Action for the Blind, and the Phillip Green Memorial School, who all hold him in high regard.
Whilst studying originally at Jellicoe Theatre College, Exlis gained a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts in Dance. After working as a workshop leader with Pure Funk for a year, it was clear that Exlis’ creative choreography and natural leadership skills needed a further outlet. Amy and he Co-founded the Pure Funk Dance Crew in 2006, growing from strength to strength.
Exlis is well known for his fast paced and energetic choreography – have YOU tried the Monday adult advanced class yet?? It’s SICK! He also offers individual break dance tuition for all levels, and has been trained in ‘Locking’ by the legendary – ‘Suga Pop’ from THE LOCKERS!
