PURE FUNK HISTORY
Our work is highly regarded by Activate Performing Arts, the dance and theatre development organisation for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole, since our first platform event at Bridport Arts Centre in February 2006. We also undertake work for schools through DepARTure Arts and other arts in education organisations, and extended schools projects as well as Primary Arts Workshops (for teachers).
GROWTH
Founded in June 2005 and run by Artistic Director Amy Beveridge, Pure Funk has grown from a small Bournemouth based dance group into a professional performance and workshop company, working with young people and adults around Dorset, and expanding now into Hampshire, Wiltshire and Devon. Our experience includes and constantly involves working with all manner of students from total beginners to the advanced and classically trained dancer. The 'company' is made up of freelance dancers/teachers from the local area, who each have a background and training in various areas of dance and all have a passion and natural pull towards the commercial dance genre.
